Effective Social Innovation for Social Entrepreneurship

Jyoti SharmaA Social Entrepreneur and Environmentalist, Jyoti Sharma is the founder and Chairperson of FORCE – a Non-profit based in India working to make communities Climate Secure through Water Security, Waste Management & WASH. Through its institutions, FORCE  promotes social innovations particularly in fields related to Water Security, Waste Management, Agriculture and Sustainable Sanitation.

Under her leadership, in recognition of FORCE’s work for water conservation, it was awarded the National Urban Water Award by the Government of India.

An economics graduate from Hindu College, University of Delhi and business management alumnus from the prestigious Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore, Jyoti worked in the For-Profit sector for many years before founding  FORCE in 2004. She is a part of the global Ashoka Fellow network and is a Swearer Fellow at Brown University, USA. She has been nominated to several Policy making / Advisory Committees of the Indian Union and State Governments. She has also authored articles that have been published in international journals.

With her academic profile and her experience of working in advertising, marketing, academics and non-profits, Jyoti brings an interesting blend of ideas and skill sets to Social Innovation thinking.

She is the author of the best selling book on social innovation – Effective Social Innovation

Jyoti conceptualized the book and had taught a course based on this model in her stint as Social Entrepreneur in Residence at the Swearer Center,Brown University, Providence, RI, USA.
